When homeowners think about a bathroom renovation, they often focus on finishes first. But for the Starlit Soak project in New Westminster, the real goal was creating a feeling.
The existing bathroom felt dated, disconnected, and lacked a clear focal point. While the space had good bones and a very private backyard, it wasn’t taking advantage of one of the home’s biggest opportunities: natural light and the connection to the outdoors.
One of the homeowner’s dreams was simple but memorable. They wanted to be able to relax in the bathtub with a glass of wine under the stars.
That vision became the foundation of the design.
To bring that experience to life, we incorporated a skylight directly above the tub and designed a custom arched architectural feature that now anchors the entire room. The arch helps frame the bathtub, center the window and skylight, and immediately draw your attention when entering the space.
Beyond the visual impact, the arch also solved several functional design challenges. It allowed us to integrate recessed storage details like hidden toilet paper storage and built-in shower niches without disrupting the clean, calming aesthetic of the bathroom.
The final result is a contemporary bathroom renovation that feels intentional, warm, and connected to its surroundings while still functioning beautifully for everyday life.
