As 2024 winds down, I’ve been taking some time to look back on the year. If you’re anything like me, you’re always looking ahead, thinking about the next big goal or milestone. But when I take a moment to reflect, I realize just how much has been accomplished this year—and it’s more than I ever imagined when I first set out.

Finally launching Align Interior Design in January this year, was honestly so exciting. I had been dreaming and prepping for that moment for a long time but it was still a big risk, uncertainty always is. After 12 years in the industry, I wanted to create something different—a business built on an educate-first, create-second approach. Seeing that vision come to life has been so rewarding. The feedback from homeowners and the milestones we’ve hit this year have completely blown me away.

So, in the spirit of reflection and gratitude, I want to share some of the highlights from this year and what they’ve meant to me.

Elevating Homes, One Space at a Time

This year, I had the privilege of working on 26 different homes. The projects ranged from small bathroom updates to full-scale home renovations. Each space brought its own unique challenges and opportunities, but the common thread was the joy of collaborating with homeowners to create spaces that truly feel like home and unique to them.

These projects reinforced the importance of thoughtful design and my commitment to providing a seamless experience for every client, no matter the size of their project.

A Year of Recognition

One of the most exciting aspects of 2024 was being recognized for my work in some incredible ways. I was honored to be featured in:

The feature on Knockout Directive holds a special place in my heart. Their tools and resources gave me the confidence to build a digital presence—a goal that had been on my list for years. While my business is still 99% referral-based (which I’m so proud of), I’ve come to appreciate the importance of connecting with potential clients online.

To everyone who left a Google review this year, thank you! Your words mean the world to me and help others find Align Interior Design.

Refining Processes, Expanding Resources

This year was also about growth behind the scenes. I spent time refining and streamlining my processes to ensure that every client received the same high-quality experience.

Another exciting development has been the creation of digital resources for homeowners who aren’t ready for full-service design but still value guidance from an experienced designer. It’s been fulfilling to share knowledge in this way, and I’m looking forward to expanding these resources in the coming year.

Building New Connections

2024 was a year of building relationships and finding inspiration in new places. I had the chance to collaborate with talented industry professionals and attend events like Women with Drive’s golf days, where I met amazing, like-minded individuals. These connections have been invaluable, and I know many will last a lifetime.

Balancing Work and Family

This year has been a mix of personal highs, lows, and plenty of colds—because life with a 3-year-old definitely comes with its fair share of sniffles! Finding balance between my career and motherhood isn’t always easy, but I’m grateful for how we managed it as a family. Those unexpected sick days reminded me to pause, slow down, and appreciate how this career allows me to work from home. Even if it means catching up on client progress after bedtime, I wouldn’t trade that flexibility for anything.

Having no set restrictions on when I can work is both a blessing and a tricky balance. If you’re a past client of mine, you know how much I prioritize sticking to our milestone timelines. To the very best of my abilities, my goal is always for my clients to feel prioritized and taken care of, while also knowing my little one always comes first.

I’m so thankful this business gives me the opportunity to be both a present mother and a dedicated business owner. It’s not always perfect, but it’s a balance I’m grateful to have.

Looking Ahead to 2025

As I reflect on this year, I simply feel grateful—not just for what was accomplished, but for the people who made it possible. From my clients to my colleagues to my family, thank you for your trust, support, and encouragement.

While I’ll always strive for more, I’m learning to celebrate the wins along the way. Here’s to 2025—a new year of learning, growth, and creating homes that inspire.
