This laneway home in North Vancouver, BC was designed to support multigenerational living, creating a space where a growing family and retired parents could live comfortably while planning for the future. Within a compact footprint, the focus was on making every area feel connected, functional, and easy to live in day to day. The kitchen was carefully positioned to maintain a visual connection to the backyard and main home, reinforcing that sense of togetherness, while the island was designed with wraparound seating that allows for casual dining, conversation, and even a high chair to pull up seamlessly.
Throughout the home, layered details were used to bring warmth and personality into the space while still keeping it highly livable. A mix of rustic brick, textured leathers, antique doors repurposed as closet features, and vintage-inspired plumbing fixtures create a collected, lived-in feel that reflects the homeowners’ style. Natural light was intentionally maximized through the architecture, helping the home feel open and inviting despite its smaller scale. The result is a thoughtfully designed laneway home that balances character, function, and flexibility, creating a space the family can continue to grow into over time.
